John Attard

John Attard, founder of Showdog Studio, is an accomplished visual effects supervisor, producer, and digital artist with over two decades of experience in the film industry. His career spans major Hollywood blockbusters, independent films, and international productions, showcasing a unique blend of creativity, technical expertise, and industry insight.

John has contributed to some of the most iconic films of the modern era, including Fight Club, Gladiator, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Black Hawk Down, The Last Samurai, and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. He has also played a key role in films such as It Follows, Jobs, and After the Dark, bringing imaginative visual storytelling to both large-scale and independent projects.

In addition to his creative work, John has developed extensive knowledge of film financing and the process of raising money for production. This unique perspective allows him to guide filmmakers not only in crafting compelling visuals but also in navigating the business side of the industry to bring their projects to life.

Currently, John works as a producer while continuing to consult and create in the visual effects space. He is a member of both the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and the Television Academy (Emmys). Expanding his creative reach, John is concluding a conservative Christian animated feature film, which he both wrote and directed.

With experience ranging from hands-on digital effects artistry to leading VFX teams, producing films, and consulting on production strategy, John continues to push the boundaries of filmmaking while mentoring the next generation of artists and producers.
